My 24/7 job is being president of the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD). Additionally, I am a painter, printmaker, and book artist.

 
How many hours of sleep do you typically get?

6 hours (on a good night).

 
What is your normal sleeping position?

I sleep on my right side.

 
What’s on your nightstand?

Lamp, alarm clock, photo of my parents, and 6-12 books at any given time – with another 12-24 books under the nightstand.

 
What is the one thing you have to do or have before you can go to sleep?

I either watch TV or read.

 
Do you sleep with a pet?

My cat would say that he sleeps with his pet (me).

 

What do you love about your bedroom?

The walls are covered with artwork.

I put my little headlamp on and read or listen to an audio book.

 
Do you read in bed? What’s the last book you read?

Yes, I am alternating between books written by Elizabeth Peters (pen name of Barbara Mertz), Clinton Kelly, B. J. Novak and David Sedaris.

 

Do you remember your dreams?

Yes. They are usually cinematic and surreal.
